Derek-O'Carroll-Shortlisted-as-CEO-of-the-Year-at-the-Digital-Masters-Awards

In another fantastic turn of events for Brightpearl, we’re pleased to announce that our CEO, Derek O’Carroll, has been shortlisted for the 2018 Digital Masters Awards, within the highly prestigious ‘CEO of the Year’ category.

Now in their fourth year, the Digital Masters Awards are an established celebration of the finest Senior Digital Leaders driving growth, innovation and transformation within Europe.

Previously nominated CEOs include Sebastian Siemiatkowski, CEO of Klarna; Gillian Tans, CEO of Booking.com; and Demis Hassabis, CEO of DeepMind Technologies. This deservedly puts Derek in fantastic company, particularly within the technology industry.

Speaking on his nomination, Derek says:

“I’m delighted to be shortlisted for this award. When I first joined the company, merchants who deployed Brightpearl were growing 30% faster than other companies, and saving two months per year doing manual work. This was something that attracted me to the company, alongside the fact that Brightpearl is the only retail and wholesale management platform in the market that allows merchants to automate their processes, so they can source, store, sell, ship and manage their accounts efficiently, within a single platform.

“But I was also aware that Brightpearl could be doing even more to enable merchants to completely automate the back office, which is partly where I could see growth in the company. Working alongside Brightpearl’s energetic, innovative and ambitious employees resulted in the launch of our automation tool, and our warehouse management system, Warewolf last year, as well as the tremendous work the team has put in to introduce new features that have now set us apart as the best cloud-based ERP solution for mid-market retailers and wholesalers.

“Our innovations, particularly over the last year, have resulted in yet more significant growth for the merchants using Brightpearl; some achieving up to a 56% increase in order volume, while reducing their time to ship by as much as 92%. To be recognized for this award following results like that really is the cherry on top of a well oiled (automated) machine.”

Also speaking on Derek’s nomination is Andrew Porter, CIO at Brightpearl:

“Since Derek became CEO of Brightpearl in spring 2016, his drive, vision and leadership has seen Brightpearl go from strength to strength. He quickly refined the company’s go-to-market strategies, fueling a 75% increase in year-on-year growth. Under his stewardship, Brightpearl has now grown to 1,400 customers worldwide who process more than $2.5 billion dollars of orders with Brightpearl each year.

“And with Derek at the helm, the company continues to innovate to deliver on Brightpearl’s mission to automate the back office for today’s merchants. The past 12 months have seen the launch of Brightpearl’s workflow automation tool, and the introduction of its warehouse management software built specifically for retail brands and wholesalers. The huge success of the firm’s automation tool has also seen it being nominated for a National Technology Award for ‘Retailing Technology of the Year’."

The Digital Masters winners will be announced at the highly anticipated awards ceremony due to take place on Tuesday June, 26 at the V&A Museum in London.

Good Luck Derek!
